Over the Christmas break our son has been testing out a ski suit for Trespass. This is his first designated ski suit and we have been interested to find out how it performs. Having said that, it has been easier said than done, given the dire lack of snow both here in the UK and even in the more reliable ski areas such as the Alps. Despite the relative lack of snow, we have seized every opportunity that has been offered and our son has got out skiing, sledging, making snow polar bears and digging snow caves, giving the Trespass Crawley ski suit a thorough testing in the process.
The Trespass Crawley ski suit is well made and looks pretty cool with its black and orange colours. The set consists of the jacket with detachable hood and long salopettes with integrated snow gaiters on the ankles. The jacket has 3 zip pockets on it, as well as a drawcord at the hem. The salopettes have an elasticated waist with over-the-shoulder buckles which make it easy for quick dashes to the bathroom or getting changed. The insulation is significant in both the top and bottoms with them feeling well padded, which is reassuring on cold and snowy days. They are windproof and waterproof to 3000 mm, which is ideal for most snow conditions.
Like most ski-wear though we have found that they do wet out in prolonged damp weather and slushy snow conditions after a time, which should be kept in mind if conditions turn milder and damper when out and about. This did cause us a problem as we were unable to get them dry on one overnight despite them being in the warmest spot in our campervan. The following day we had to use a different waterproof set to be sure our son was warm and dry. Despite this limitation they have proved to work well in good snow conditions, keeping our son warm and dry without restricting his movement when well wrapped up.
We think that the Trespass kids ski suit represents good value for money being warm, stylish and flexible skiwear suitable for a multitude of snow based activities. This would be an excellent choice for a first ski trip, and the pricing is relatively low which is useful when children are growing so fast! Kids ski suit prices range from around £30 to £60 on the Trespass website depending on the exact style.
We hear that the next ‘winter weatherbomb’ is heading our way from the middle of this week. We’re eagerly looking forward to the weekend when we’ll try to get out skiing and having snow fun again and we reckon the Crawley ski suit will be one of the bits of gear we’ll be taking with us.
