Review: Outwell collapsible washing-up bowl

In a small campervan space is at a premium but having a washing up bowl is handy for many purposes. We use them for washing up, obviously, but also as a bowl for use as a water carrier, a bucket for pond dipping and collecting shells. For these reasons, we really wanted to be able to take a washing up bowl with us that would be easy to clean but couldn’t give up the space to a full size washing up bowl.

We were therefore delighted to be able to test the Outwell Collapsible washing up bowl, given to us to review by New Heights.

According to the New Heights website, “Outwell’s reputation and success stems from their strong family ethos and a desire to inspire families to enjoy outdoor living. As campers themselves their passion drives them to produce the finest, market-leading camping products, which are based on bold and functional ideas derived from their own expertise gained under canvas.”

  • Open size: 38 x 28 x 12 cm
  • Pack size: 37.5 x 28 x 5 cm
  • Product weight net kg: 585 gr

So would it be practical then? Or would it just look pretty in the cupboard? Well, the bowl has a silicon section in the middle which folds in on itself, making the bowl about 5 cm high when collapsed and almost 15 cm deep when expanded. This really answered our storage dilemma perfectly. We are now able to take a washing up bowl with us without the giving up masses of our valuable storage space.

  • It’s easy to fold/unfold
  • Small pack size
  • Break resistant
  • Practical

  • It’s quite pricey for what it is (RRP £18.49)

In our opinion, the Outwell collapsible washing up bowl would be ideal for car camping on campsites or for use in campervans and motorhomes. It is very practical for our needs and will remain a regular fixture in our van, having earnted its place there over the summer. The collapsible bowls are a great invention!

Many thanks to New Heights for providing us the gear to review. We did not receive any payment for this review and all opinions are our own.
