Garvie Bay, Assynt

Garvie Bay, Assynt

Garvie Bay is a secluded little bay with a sandy beach, great crabbing and mountain views. Limited parking spaces can be found near the cattle grid on the single track road with passing places past Stac Pollaidh. The short walk to the bay is easy to follow, but can be muddy or boggy in places.

Walk to Garvie Bay

The bay itself is sandy, with brilliantly smooth stones and pebbles lining the top section before the grassy surroundings. We found some crabs of all sizes here, including a couple brimming with eggs and we even saw a little mouse here.

Crabbing at Garvie Bay

Many of the crowds go to neighbouring Achnahaird Beach, which also has stunning views and great crabbing, but if you don’t fancy crowds, Garvie Bay is the place to go.
